Praying From Evening Till Dawn

On the second Friday of every month, people from Kenya and Uganda congregate in our chapel to pray from evening until dawn. What began as 15 people having a small prayer meeting has now grown into an event that hosts nearly 800 people.

The night begins with praise and worship and the Word being preached. The time of prayer then begins and lasts until 3a.m. From 3-5a.m., people give their testimonies of how they have either accepted Christ or their prayers have been answered. The entire night is broadcasted live for all who are tuning in via the radio. Prayer requests are constantly sent on from listeners all around. Requests are announced and prayed over by all who are present.

These overnight prayer meetings (or keshas) have been taking place every month for about a year and a half now. Throughout this time, many have been saved and countless miracles have taken place. Some 100 people have come to know the Lord through thesemeetings since January 2011. Seven people alone were saved at the most recent one on May 11. One man walked 40 kilometers to come see what these keshas were all about. When he heard the gospel he immediately gave his life to Christ.

Another man was about to commit suicide when he tuned into Imani Radio. He was a policeman and had a cup of poison beside him ready to drink. He was frustrated, depressed, and hopeless. But when he heard the Word of God his hope was restored, and he gave his life to Christ. He has since been reunited with his family and is now attending a church we were able to refer him to. In a report we received he said he gives thanks to God for saving him from the spirit of drunkardness and at the same time keeping him alive.

God is working through these monthly prayer meetings. We ask that you pray for us to be able to build a bigger chapel where we can house all of the people that come. We are so glad and thankful that He has allowed us to take part in what He is doing in Kenya and Uganda.
